Because people are sheeple and will believe anything spoon-fed to them by the authorities and media. In turn, the authorities and media have been doing a virus scare once a year since 9/11, in the misguided theory that all this practice with sars masks and bird flu containment procedures will help reduce casualties in case of a real bioterrorism epedemic.

Location: Northern part of large city.
Stronghold: Planned route is to stop at the police station north of here in the smaller city, then continue north to Algonquin Park; where I will rotate through several islands I know of there.
Vehicle: Motorcycle (My bike is small enough to drag/carry if need be and has amazing mileage... only weighs 200 lbs)
Headwear: Motorcycle helmet.
Clothing: Riding wear over denim with ankle boots and gloves.
Weaponry: Katana, kitchen knives taped around legs and arms to be used as throwing weapons. (Yes, I have experience throwing knives.) After arrival at police station, weaponry will be expanded with 2 Beretta Centurion .40s and a Remington 12 gauge. (Yes, that is actually the weapons they use. Conveniently, Centurions have no safeties.) At that point the katana will be discarded as it'll be unwieldy for a long drive through unpaved parkland, though the knives will be kept.
Inventory: Crowbar, crank-flashlight, folding hunting knife, swiss army knife, hand trowel, first aid kit.
Battle anthem: Assorted dance music.
Sidekick: None, they'll just slow me down (Unless there's L4D style specials, then I'll take anyone fast enough to keep up.)
Last words: Not applicable, I fully intend to survive.
...Yes, I've considered this all out and own all the stuff I've said here.
